The Internet: a friend or an enemy? Nowadays, this question seems to be the number one topic for discussions. The first internet server was created in 1969. In the real time, the internet became the web, which covered the whole world. Some people think that the internet is men's enemy while others say that it is people's helper and friend. So, who is right? On one hand, the Internet has revolutionized the way we communicate, access information, and conduct business. It has connected people from all corners of the globe. However, on the other hand, the Internet has also brought about a myriad of problems and risks that have raised concerns about its impact on society. One of the key arguments in favor of the Internet being a friend is its ability for communication. Though it keeps people busy by distracting them from real life problems and has clear negative effects on their social lives, internet's positive influences such as staying in touch with long-distance friends and family and, information accessibility can't be overlooked. You can save your time while making shopping online. The internet gives the opportunity to check the different models, colors and to order what you want. As a student, I have to admit that, without the help of the internet, I wouldn't be able to reach this much information in such little time in the comfort in my own house. Searching for books in libraries and trying to find the right teachers that can possibly help me out are not my preferred learning techniques. Using the internet can be also dangerous. I can confidently say that it steals our time by keeping us busy with mostly insignificant things such as fun but empty games and intriuging news. This is a big concern for today's society since the development of humanity could take a turn for the worst if time gets spent thoughtlessly. Also, the children's exposure to violance and adult content is considered to be one of the worst sides of the internet. The correct measures should be taken in order to keep children and teens mentally safe. Finally, my own perspective is that the Net can be useful only if used in appropriate way. I should say that everything is in our hands and we ourselves make the great inventions our friends or enemies.
