The article by Svetlana Anistratenko is dedicated to woman role in modern Orthodox Judaism. As an
example the author examines the basic patriarchal traits of Orthodox Judaism and critical feministic
examination of these traits. Special attention is paid to gender relationships within Orthodox communities
in different countries of Jewish Diaspora and to the influence of surrounding societies on them.
