Shakespeare. He is the greatest English writer in the English language .He is also the most translated author ever! His plays and poems are known all over the world and are famous for their beautiful language and strong emotions. But not very much is known about the poet himself. He was born on 23rd of April in 1564. The boy was born to John and Mary Shakespeare .There were 8 children in their family. William was the third child. He went to the grammar school in Stratford but he was educated more by the people and nature about him than by teaching at school. Would you mind answering some questions? Who is he? What was he? What language did he speak? What plays by William Shakespeare do you know? Have you read anything by William Shakespeare? ( Слайды 3- 12) William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was one of the greatest and famous writers in human history. He was born in Stratford-on-Avon, a small town in the middle of England. His father wanted his son to be a well-educated person and William was sent to the local grammar school. Studying at school the boy actually did not have any free time. But he spent his rare spare hours walking in the forest or watching the river Avon. Those days there were not a lot of theatres in towns and actors and actresses had to travel moving from one place to another with their shows. Sometimes they visited Stratford-on-Avon. William liked to watch them playing. He got fond of their profession and he decided to become an actor. He went to London and there he became an actor. At that time he began to write plays too. Shakespeare was at the same time an actor and a playwright. In his works he reflected events of his contemporaries' life. His plays were staged in many theatres, translated into many foreign languages. That made Shakespeare a very popular man. Most famous of his plays are Othello, King Lear, Hamlet, and Romeo and Juliet. They are still popular and you can watch his .plays in almost any country of the world. He produced thirty seven plays at all. He had connections with the best English theatres for about 25 years. William Shakespeare wrote also a lot of poetry including his unbeaten sonnets. There are numerous songs written with his poems. He is still most often published author of the world and well known among people. We do not know much about his life. We can only guess what kind of man he was analyzing the legends and a few documents of the time. Shakespeare died in 1616, but millions people today still admire his plays. THE SONNET № CXXX by William Shakespeare My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun; Coral is far more red, than her lips red: If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. I have seen roses damask'd, red and white, But no such roses see I in her cheeks; And in some perfumes is there more delight Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks. I love to hear her speak, yet well I know That music hath a far more pleasing sound: I grant I never saw a goddess go,-My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground: And yet by heaven, I think my love as rare, As any she belied with false compare. Pupil 2. Pupil 3. All the world's stage And all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts. His acts being seven ages. At first the infant Marling and puling in the nurses arms And then the whining school – boy with his satchel And shining morning face creeping like snail Unwillingly to school. Pupil 5. My love is strengthened though more weak in seeming I love not less, the show appear, That love is merchandized who’s rich esteeming The owners tongue doth public everywhere. Pupil 6. Pupil 7 Two loves I have at comfort and despair Which like two spirits do suggest me still? The better angel is man right fair The worse spirit a woman colors ill. Pupil 8. My love is warmer than the warmest sunshine, Softer than a sign. My love is deeper than the deepest ocean, Wider than the sky. My love is brighter than the brightest star That shines every night above. And there is nothing in this world that can ever Change my love. The teacher( Слайды 22-25) «William Shakespeare became famous not as an actor, But as a writer of plays. He wrote 37 plays. Among them are «Hamlet», «King Lear», «Othello», «Anthony and Cleopatra», «Twelfth Night», « Romeo and Juliet». It is interesting to note that all plots of Shakespeare's plays were not original. He took them from the works of other authors. At that time the audience was rather ignorant and the play wrights tried to attract it to the world literature through their plays. Shakespeare took his plots from history, old legends, novels and poems; he also used Plutarch «Historical Portraits». The plot of «Othello» and Twelfth Night» was taken from Italian novels and those of «Hamlet» and «King Lear»- from early English authors. But every borrowed plot began to live a new life in his plays. Shakespeare wrote 2 long poems and 154 sonnets. They show his extraordinary powers of expression and his depth of emotional understanding. Jul: - How you here have made the way? For what? The fencing is high and unapproachable. To you here inevitable death when you would be found by my relatives. R: - I was transferred here with love, it is not stopped with walls. In need it is solved on everything and consequently, - that to me your relatives. Jul: - My person darkness rescues, and that I know from shame has burned down. Certainly I so am strongly in love, that silly should you seem, but I am strongly in love, that silly should you seem, but I am more fair than many touchy persons, who play modest women. R: - Sacred night! And suddenly all this dream? So the happiness so fantastically and wonderfully it is all is unreasonable! Jul: - Farewell! Farewell! And to be separated there is no urine! And to repeat century «Good night». R: Farewell! Quiet dream to you come also sweet world will spread in your breast! 6 Работа с известными выражениями из произведений Шекспира( Слайд 26) Teacher: «To be or not to be; that is the question».
