Text: 2 Cor. 13:5 Проверяйте себя, в вере ли вы; испытывайте самих себя. Разве не
знаете самих себя, что Христос в вас, если только вы не есть негодяи?
1. The text doctrinally is speaking of those who may not be saved.
2. If a man is saved HE CAN KNOW FOR SURE WHETHER HE IS SAVED OR NOT.
ILL. Those who think that you can not know. HYPOCRITES!
3. Talk about the text practically speaking concerning the Christians walk with the Lord.
4. Sometimes we need a little “check-up.”
5. There are times we tend to let things slip.
6. Christians can become a little careless at times.

prevent any mechanical accidents.
ILL. When a person takes on a new job there is required an examination. всестороннее

ILL. People change places of location think its time then to “check-up.”
It should be an inner thing REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU ARE LOCATED.
I. DID YOU CALL UPON GOD FOR GRACE IN TIME OF NEED? (2 Cor. 13:14)
“grace” – 13 times in 2 Cor. in 13 chapters; 1 for each chapter.
(Heb.4:16).
Будем поэтому смело приступать к престолу благодати, чтобы обрести милость, и
найти благодать для помощи во время нужды.
1. You need grace for any and all situations – in the home, dealing with children, etc.
i. Had you ASKED for Grace.
ii. Have you made it point maybe to learn new verses about grace so that you wouldn’t lose
your temper. GRACE will help you.
2. Maybe you wanted to but just haven’t yet.
3. Maybe you thought that you could get through it alone.
4. God’s mercy is shown by “puttng up” with us while trying to warn us of something.
ILL. A man in a boat may be busy casting bait but hasn’t noticed that the boat has drifted.
4. Christians need to take a good look at what they are doing.
ILL. Charles Finney’s “How To Have Revival.” Examine yourself long enough to find the
sin problem.
Have you been trusting God in time of need, ASKING GOD FOR MERCY?

II. DID YOU THANK GOD FOR DISAPPOINTMENTS?
Rom. 8:28 И мы знаем, что все содействует на добро тем, кто любит Бога, тем, кто
призван согласно его замыслу.
2. Thanksgiving should be from the heart (Eph.5:20).
ILL. Woman that ruined a new car. “Thank God you are alright honey.” He wasn’t
concerned about the car.
1. Did you thank God that He closed the door on something you really wanted?
2. Did you thank God for something that really hurt you the most?
Our hardest lessons in life can turn into the greatest of blessings.
ILL. Joseph sold by his own brethren. God turned that into one of the greatest lessons on
how ALL things work together for good.
ILL. Nick, no legs, no arms. He’s now got him a wife and two children.
There is always somebody for somebody.
ILL. Joni, paralyzed from her neck down. The Lord gave her a husband.
ILL. The boy who saw his dad under great attack by the brethren. We’re to wait and be
patient under heavy artillery attack.
III. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU ASKED GOD TO SHOW YOU SOMETHING,
I.E., SEARCHING FOR TRUTH
1. There are TOO many questions and problems in life for us NOT to be searching the scriptures,
studying the book and seeking God’s face.
Psa. 119:18 Открой глаза мои, чтобы мне увидеть дивное из закона твоего.
ILL. I’ve got a “nugget.”
ILL. Excited about telling a brother what God has shown you.
ILL. Excited about getting a fresh dose of God’s presence in prayer.
DO YOU SPEND MORE TIME IN THE BOOKS OF PEOPLE THAN IN THE INSPIRED
BOOK OF GOD? (2 Tim. 2:15).
2 Tim. 2:15 Учись, чтобы показать себя Богу одобренным, работником, которому не
нужно стыдиться, правильно разделяющим слово истины.

¶ Исследуйте писания;
IV. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU PRAYED FOR THOSE THAT DO NOT
THINK GOOD OF YOU?
1. That is real cross-bearing praying.

i. Cf. Evil surmising is common among communist countries (1 Tim. 6:1-5).
2. False accusation is common among Laodiceans (2 Tim. 4:3)
ILL. Job 42:10 was to pray for those that “jabbed,” “insulted,” and “hurt” him.

ILL. Jesus prayed on the cross for those that hated his guts. That is HUMILITY!
ILL. A man that wouldn’t give his son as a means to make peace between him and his
enemies. “No way!”
Yes we need a “check-up.” Or else we can let things slip
(Heb.2:1) Поэтому мы должны тем более внимать тому, что мы услышали, чтобы в
какое время мы не упустили этого.
V. WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD SPIRITUAL, HEALTHY, COMMUNION
WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS
1. Has your conversation been one of edification (Eph. 4:29-32)
ILL. Not just right after church, but at home, around the table, etc.
i. Fleshly Christians always talk about others.
ii. Spiritual Christians will mostly talk about what the Bible says.
2. Has your spirit in conversation been one of overcoming evil by doing good?
VI. WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU SACRIFICED FOR THE LORD?
1. Sacrifice–giving something expecting nothing in return despite the circumstances bearing a
reproach as a result.
2. That is the core of the Christian walk – sacrifice.
ILL. The antidote (противоядие) of selfish living is SACRIFICE.
VII. WHEN IS THE LAST TIME THAT YOU SPENT TIME TO TELL SOMEONE
ABOUT JESUS CHRIST
1. When was the last time you spent a couple of hours to tell someone about Jesus Christ?
“Follow Me”
2. Do you spend more time in front of the T.V. than you do reading the Bible or telling others
about Jesus Christ?
Or teaching others the Bible? Or conversing about what God says?
3. When is the last time you prayed to lead someone to Jesus Christ and then set out to lead
others to the Lord?

Conclusion
1. “Check-up” It’s what the Christian needs from time to time.
2. Are your treasures still in heaven?
3. Are you taking things for granted?
4. If you were to get paid for doing things around the church, would you do it only then?
5. “CHECK-UP” Every Christian needs to do that from time to time.
ILL. A mirror is necessary to see yourself as you are. The Bible is mirror (Jam.1:23).
ILL. The Ukrainian submarine that sank in the Black Sea. 26 died because of carelessness.
A careless небрежный attitude about something
ILL. I thought I might of smelled some gas in the building. 430 died as a result. He didn’t
report the smell.
1. Have some of you smelled the fires of hell, and some of you haven’t reported it.
