In the article the actual problem of research of risk as economic category of forest
economy that has essential value for scientific and practical activities on management
efficiency increase in forestry is considered. In work treatments of the many-sided category «risk» which, without contradicting are presented, and, supplementing each other, cover his contents. The generalized classification of risks which can be added with
the private classifications of risks which are based on specifics of a type of economic
activity is offered. The most significant risks of forest branch in modern conditions of
managing, their feature, a complex of methods of management by risks are considered.
