The article is devoted to the analysis of the three balalaika and piano sonatas by A. Kusyakov, the
well-known Rostov composer. These sonatas are significant and difficult compositions in the balalaika
repertoire. They combine traditions and the best achievements of the musical language and performance of
the turn of the 21st century. These sonatas give an opportunity to reconsider the folk instruments and make
significant contribution to the academic balalaika repertoire development.
