The article dwells upon the study of ancient genre of religious literature – liturgical rhetoric. This
unique genre was found only in Biblical literature written in ancient Hebrew. In ancient time of the
Israeli monotheism formation, the genre was known as revelation rhetoric (up to VII B.C.). However, in
the period of Israel transformation as an ethnic and religious community after Babylonian captivity
(since 539 B.C.) this rhetorical tradition was transformed into the liturgical rhetoric in proper sense.
This process is reflected in Aramaic translations of the Pentateuch – the so called targums.
