Влияние Великобритании на ситуацию на Северном Кавказе
в конце 20-х-30-е гг. XIX в.
В статье рассматривается проблема влияния Великобритании на ситуацию на
Северном Кавказе в конце 20-х-30-е гг. XIX в. Автор раскрывает мотивы и причины
возросшей заинтересованности Великобритании в регионе после того, как Персия и
Османская империя после ряда проигранных России военных кампаний и обострения
противоречий во внутренней политике были вынуждены отказаться от открытых
притязаний на доминирование в регионе. В связи со своим особым географическим и
стратегическим положением наибольший интерес для британского правительства
представлял Северо-Западный Кавказ, имевший выход к Черному морю и, следовательно,
более привлекательный для Великобритании, столетиями являвшейся морской державой.
Дается оценка деятельности английских резидентов, проживающих на территории
Северного
Кавказа,
прежде
всего,
Черкесии,
и
степени
их
воздействия
на
взаимоотношения горских народов и российских властей. На основе проведенного
исследования отмечается, что внешнеполитический фактор играл одну из ключевых ролей
в развитии северокавказских событий описываемого времени.

The British influence on the situation in the North Caucasus
in the late 20s - 30s of the XIXth century
The article considers the issue of the influence of Great Britain on the situation in the
North Caucasus in the late 20s - 30s of the XIXth century. The author reveals the motives and
reasons for the increased interest of Great Britain in the region after the forced renunciation of
public claims by Persia and the Ottoman Empire on the dominance in the region after a series of
the lost military campaigns against Russia and intensification of the contradictions in the internal
policy. Due to its special geographic and strategic position the Northwest Caucasus was of
special interest to the British government because it had access to the Black Sea, and, therefore,
was more attractive to Great Britain that for centuries had been a maritime power. The article
assesses the performance of the British residents living in the North Caucasus, in particular, in
Circassia, and their impact on the relations between the Russian authorities and mountain
peoples. On the basis of the carried out research it is specified that the foreign policy factor
played a key role in the development of the North Caucasus events of the described period.
