The city of Penza, the capital of the Penza region, was
founded in 1663. Now Penza is 340 years old. The city was
originally built as a fortress.

a scientific, educational and industrial centre. It has two
universities: the Penza State University and the Penza State
Teacher Training University and many higher schools for all
